My 15 year regression! My TT filled day.
My Take That adventure started in Dec 1992 when my friend got tickets to the Capital Radio Crisp-mas party! I followed that with a steady stream of concerts, a Smash Hits Poll Awards and a World Aids Day, amongst others?
And here I am, nearly 30, mother of two, 15 years later, doing it all again! It's fantastic. I had the pleasure of seeing them last year, but at 32 weeks pregnant and dreadfully grumpy, it wasn't quite the same.
This time round, in early March, I queued for 17 hours for my 3rd row tickets and I knew that I was in for a good evening.
My day started with my sister and I having a wander around Manchester. It was a good day, and we toasted our day with a sausage and mulled wine at the Christmas Market at Albert Square.
We then ambled down the arena and because we had been our feet for a while, we just got ourselves a drink and headed for our seats. What an amazing feeling to walk closer to the front than I had ever been before. I was still waiting for something to go wrong!
Our seats were Row C, Block C so this meant we had the slanted seats, on the left hand of the stage.
We enjoyed the warm up, especially SEB, and thought she did a better than usual job of warming us up. She was a great choice for support.
Then we took a quick natural break, and settled ourselves in for the show. Our stomachs clenched, head all dizzy and we went crazy as the lights dimmed? a noise reminiscent of the 90s (minus the whistles? fab) hit us, and the podiums appeared. I spied a coat tail behind one podium (Gary, I think) and with a blaze of light, the boys appeared. WOW. What a sight.
I couldn't get over how gorgeous they were and the first song was just s flurry of emotions, and I can't remember that much about that. We were just in awe of how close the boys were to us.
I don't want to go through each song, as we all know how great they are, but wanted to mention some of my highlights.
For me, I thought the pole dancing was superb, and so sexy, Patience was a great way to show off how good these guys really are at singing, and Rule the World, was just THE BEST. I truly love this song, and to see it live, with the green lights was out of this world. Although I thought the lights looked like insects crawling all over the place, which was odd!
And then onto the B Stage. CIBM was lovely for me. Gary played Chopin's Prelude at the start. This is a special piece of music to me, from my GCSEs and to hear it played was wonderful.
The talking banter between the lads was nice. Gary had won the hair award, which he was pleased about. They talked about football teams, and I screamed for City, and booed for United. And then Mark mentioned Rochdale? silence! He he
I loved the old stuff. Singing the hits was so much fun. Do what you like in particular, even if it was quick.
And all the arms in the air for Back For Good was so so nice. It really warmed the heart to see so many people having so much fun.
Wooden Boat was beautifully sung by Jason. He had his brew with him and looked terrified. I have to say though, it is difficult song to sing in such a large arena. Well done that man for carrying it off.
I really enjoyed GGF, but I think being so near the front we missed the visual impact of it. Still, those boys in those hoodies... phwoargh!
All too soon, we got my favourite? Never Forget. What a clever idea. And I felt it really showed how slick the boys are. Their timings were spot on, and showed how much work they must have put in for us.
The encore was great, but tinged with sadness as I knew it was nearly time to go. But, I must admit, I was quite pleased to have a sit down once they'd finished. My legs were gone!
Finally, my wait is over. I can watch videos, look at pictures and read reviews properly. My camera died after half the show, but I am delighted with my own pics.
I had a great TT day and want to thank my husband for looking after our two children so I could really enjoy myself.
And finally (really, this time) I want to thank my lucky stars that I put my mobile in the washing machine when I got home, (with my dirty coat?.) rather than my camera with my superb pictures?
