Now that it's had a couple of days to sink in, I'll try my best to put into words one of the best nights ever!!!
I managed to drag myself out of bed on Saturday morning having also been to the concert on Friday night, so I was still quite tired and hoarse!! I was picking up Alison (Aligaz) so got myself organised and headed off to meet her. It was nice briefly meeting you Louisa and Jo during the day.
Even though i had been the night before the butterflies and excitement was no less and by the time we got to the arena i was very excited again. Before we took our seats we met up with Caroline and her friends for a few minutes (sorry I don't remember all your names)
So we missed the first support act but did go in for Sophie Ellis Bextor and i thought the crowd was a lot more responsive to her than the night before. There seemed to be a lot more people up dancing and singing and i was quite impressed with her and actually knew a few more of her songs than i realised.
After she went off the atmosphere was really getting going with Mexican waves going round and everyone singing along to the music that was being played - Sugababes, scissor sisters and i think Mika too I knew then that the atmosphere was going to be amazing.
Finally the moment came, the lights went down and the screaming and cheering started! I knew there was stuff happening on the b stage but I kept my eyes firmly fixed in front. Also I think someone else mentioned this in their review but I missed the wooden boat going across the screen on the first night too Our seats were a bit further back on the Saturday but better for seeing the stage as a whole and so much better for the b stage.
Anyway, so up came the guys and did an absolutely amazing version of reach out, how they manage to stay so serious I'll never know and if they were real politicians they would get my vote every time
Then of course came it only takes a minute, no Jason and Howard pole dancing but still it was fantastic and straight into Beautiful World which Howard sang brilliantly, his voice was just perfect on it. Patience was amazing and the crowd was in very fine voice and i think quite a bit louder than the night before
Mark now started to speak to the crowd and held up a can of Irn Bru which got a cheer! He said how it was made in Scotland from girders, was a good hangover cure not that he needed it (yeah right!!! ) and then passed the can to Howard and Gary so they could have a wee drink too and i think it was Gary who said something like no wonder all your fillings fall out!!
Hold on came next and Mark was on great form, singing was brilliant and of course the stomping just made the song ace. Then the stage got darker and Gary started I'd Wait For Life. This sent shivers down my spine, it's not one of my favourite songs from the album but live it was absolutely phenomenal and just reminds everyone how brilliant Gary's voice really is.
Lloyd now appeared on the b stage for his little intro bit for relight my fire and soon enough the stage burst to life, amazing colours, bongo beats and voodoo style costumes set it up perfectly for the boys coming on. I love what they did with relight and the Gnarls Barkley's Crazy being added in was just fab! it worked great. All the boys body parts did go on fire tonight which was great to see as Mark had trouble with his hat on Friday night
The stage was dark again and when the green laser lights came on it looked stunning and then the boys appeared to start singing rule the world, looking very hot in their long length coats As the bridge came down for them to get to the b stage the crowd went nuts. There was so much to look at during that song with the globe and them moving around it, what an amazing performance it was!
Now Gary started could it be magic which judging by the screams the crowd absolutely loved! I wasn't sure about this at first when I heard they were going to be doing a slowed down version but I was not disappointed. Gary's voice again gave me chills and the dancers were amazing on the moving part of the stage and then throwing the confetti down. The whole thing was just visually stunning, totally mesmerizing.
Now we all got our memories tested and we got a few lines from songs from take that and party. Do what you like (which of course I did the old dance too ), take that and party and satisfied which didn't get that great a reaction from the people around me but I tried to make up for that! Then Mark said did we know there was a hidden track and i was like which led to him singing the first line of Flower Of Scotland and then we took it from there. It was so loud and i have no idea how there is still a roof on the SECC but it was certainly a highlight of the night for me and made it really special.
Back for good was amazing and so loud! Seeing everyones arms in the air was really special and then it was straight onto everything changes including some very funny dancing from Howard and Gary and time for the guys to get back to the main stage, which Mark did in his own unique style by stopping about half way over the bridge then running and doing a skid down the last part of it
Next came Wooden Boat and I had been waiting for this. Jason of course asked if we minded if he took his shoes and socks off which nobody objected to. Then when he started to sing I think it was the only part of the night where I didn't sing along. He got massive cheers in between each verse which was great. I was so proud of him and he did an absolutely amazing job. Well done Jason
And as Jason said that's the time to be the first one on the dancefloor I started screaming and so did a couple of girls a few rows in front of me while a few people looked at us like 'why are they screaming?' but we knew what was coming next - Give Good Feeling! OMG they looked hot in the hoodies and the dancing was absolutely top notch! Then again i started screaming because i knew the crawl was coming I think after that I had hardly any voice left Then it was straight into sure, and again great dancing, great singing, great song.
Off they went the stage went dark and Lloyd came on with his flashlight looking around the stage, before eventually pulling up the backdrop for never forget. I was relieved to see it went up alright because on Friday night it didn't and there was a gap in it! The timing in this was amazing and must have taken a hell of a lot of practising but the guys pulled it off and to see everyone's' hands in the air and singing along was just one of those moments where you look and go WOW!! And after all that they still had energy to run on their treadmills The song finished they said thanks and off they went to much applause and screaming.
The noise level didn't lessen any as we waited for them to come back on. Which they did for an amazing version of Shine. The dancers costumes, the shiny piano, the boys outfits - especially Mark who looked very swanky were all amazing. Mark did an absolutely bang on job complete with stomping of course! And i loved it when they put the jazzy bit in the middle of the song. They have definitely got themselves a new anthem with that and something they can make into a spectacle!
Everything went dark again and it was time for Pray, which was amazing but i was also starting to feel a bit sad because i knew it was coming to an end and even after two hours of screaming and singing along i managed to find my voice and sing as loud as i could! the song came to an end, they said goodbye and the crowd went absolutely crazy
Friday and Saturday was the first time i had seen Take That live and after waiting all these years it was definitely worth the wait but for me Saturday night was the best. The atmosphere was much better and Flower Of Scotland just made the whole thing really special. They put on one hell of a show and even now I keep thinking about little bits and pieces that i forgot the next day. I got home shattered, really excited but also really sad and with no voice left whatsoever What an amazing weekend and let's just hope that they're back for good and i get to relive my experience all over again
