Take That can rule my world anytime
Even after a few hours sleep I still have difficulties putting last night´s experience into words. Very small screens told us that TT would perform without Howard. Sad, but very understandable.
I was screaming at the top of my lungs, Theresa was jumping up and down beside me and the opera piece began. I had read every possible spoiler in sight and still I was mesmerized from beginning to end. The noise of the crowd reached an even higher level when Gary, Jason and Mark started singing and I must admit that they look even more stunning in real. Mark walked off stage to shake hands during some part of the song, you could see it in the eyes of the security "oh no, not that again".
I loved It Only Takes A Minute, it was fun, sexy, lots of energy and really, that man can move
his body. Too sad Howard wasn't there, his poll would have right in front of us. I think that they succeeded in rearranging the dance routines without him very well, you weren't aware of the fact that one was missing. After IOTAM they said hello to the crowd, explained about Howard, showed the video message and had a little conversation. Mark mentioned that Elwood had taken his first five steps two days earlier and that Jason had washed his hair, to which Jason replied that was only because he shaved. Patience came next, one of my favourite songs ever as this was the one making me fall in love with TT (I know, I know, but better late than never).
Hold On took me completely by surprise, that song is so much better live and Mark's voice was amazing. In fact, all three of them were singing brilliantly, this can't be said often enough. I didn't know where to look first during Relight My Fire, what a show, what a spectacle. Rule The World and I'd Wait For Life were next and I really wanted to see the screen a little bit better, but at least I can say that it was Jason who took over Howard's "Rule The World" part. Another one of my favourites, but please don't ask me to pick one. Then the globe and the walkway came down and the crowd went even more hysterical if that was still possible. Back For Good was mainly sung by the crowd, and yes, we knew the lyrics. That gave Gary time to get off the b-stage and walk around it. Security must have been very close to a heart attack. Could It Be Magic was sheer magic for me. What a beautiful song and what an amazing voice.
They asked the crowd for help for Everything Changes and the crowd was only too happy to do so. Who wouldn't? Three men giving it all, singing and dancing the night away and at the same time looking as if they were having a blast performing with a group of mates.
Back to the main stage and Jason's Wooden Boat. He sang it so beautifully, it felt so good. I am so happy that he finally did it! I loved his way of introducing the next part of the show "Sometimes we don't know what we're waiting for. That's the time to be the first one on the dance floor." You would have been proud of me as I had learnt the lyrics for Give Good Feeling and I was singing/screaming at the top of my lungs. The crowd went wild when TT crawled on the floor. Where did the retrieve the energy from to perform Sure afterwards? I would have been dead by then.
Never Forget, another one of my favourites, bad seats for this one and I was clearly missing Howard here, but what a view to look around the arena and see all the arms in the air.
Shine and again that is a great song for Mark, who decided to test security again.
Gary, Jason and Mark gave it all, but you could see that not only the crowd was having a wonderful evening. During Pray Jason and Mark didn't stop grinning which was nice from where we were sitting. And then we saw them running out of the arena and the lights went back on.
What remains?
The memories of the best concert I have ever been to, not only for the music, but also for the show. That stage was a wonderland of magic. The joy that I will see it again, next week in Frankfurt.
What is it all about?
For me Take That is about having a great time, and sharing this time with others. In my case that was my teenage daughter, an age in which mother and daughter often happily scratch each other's eyes out. We were singing every single song together. TT also meant for me to phone Bulgaria, Norway, Scotland and Germany to share a little bit of the magic. A little bit more of that and Take That can really Rule The World.
