The madness started in the airport yesterday morning, me, Lizzie, Rach and Kim were in WHSmiths and A Million Love Songs came on, and we all just went "OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" and the guy behind the counter (who was fit as!) just started at us like *confused face* but then started singing along! Then when we got in our taxi in Belfast to go to our hotel, Everything Changes was on, my favourite!! We actually screamed, and wound the window down and shouted Rach over to listen. We had to take a bit abuse from the taxi driver, who thought we were muppets for going over there to see them, but he was nice really, and gave us a little talk of everything we were passing.
We literally went into our hotel, asked if we could leave our bags behind reception til we got back from the show, (this was at 9.45am-ish, we got back at 12.30am this morning) and left again and started queuing outside the Odyssey at 10.30am. We were with Helen (crazychick77) and her friend Ashleigh, who were both lovely, was brill to meet them, we had such a laugh!
We took it turns to go and get food, have a wee, stretch our legs etc, so it went quite slowly but it was good fun, gave us chance to meet people etc!
Then at about 6.45pm,we got let in - UTTER BLOODY MADNESS!!! I have never in my life been pushed and shoved so much, but I gave as good as I got. I'd been there 8 hours, people who turned up at 5pm weren't going in front of me if my life depended on it!!! I just ran as fast I could without being shouted at by security, even though one did grab me and tell me to stop. My reply - "ok" and carried on! TT bring out the rebel in me. We got spaces in the 2nd row, if Lizzie hadn't stopped and turned round to wait for me we would've got the spaces at the front, but I wasn't complaining, we had the most amazing view!
SEB came on, who wasn't all that bad!! She's not amazing, but she was good!
Then about half hour after she went, the lights went down, and I have never screamed so much in my life! SPOILERS!!! 4 podium stand things came on and I thought "press conference" but Reach Out was done in a politiciany sort of way, as if they were telling people what they'd do if they were 'ruling the world', if you will. I've just realised this, but I thought Reach Out suited that scene, like they were politicians who were 'reaching out' to they public! This is the theatre training in me, I analyse the meaning behind everything like this!
My favourite bits were -
Reach Out - I've said why.
Patience - Just because it's so much better live than on CD/radio, and it was the first time I'd heard it live. Everyone singing along was amazing!
Gary's line - at the beginning he was saying that because it was the first show, anything could happen and probably would, and then said: "we'll know about it, you'll know about it, but there's f*** all we can do about it!"
Back For Good - just because it always has been, and always will be!
Relight - ace!! I was such a div though, and didn't realise they were all on fire, I just stared at Jason's foot on fire
Give Good Feeling - so happy that they sang this, I never thought I'd get to hear any of the old album tracks live, so I'm well made up with this! Felt like the 5 year old me dancing round my bedroom! Everyone round me and Lizzie were like "what the f***'s this?", and there was me and Lizzie, "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Wooden Boat - so proud of Jason!! He really did look absolutely petrified, and had his eyes shut for 90% of it! He forgot a few words, but he did so so well! GO JASON!!!
Never Forget - How clever was that!!! I was mesmerised by it, that took some bloody rehearsing I reckon! If they go 1 second out of time one night, that'll look s*** and it'll go tits up, but I've got every faith it'll be just as great every night!
Shine - as great as I hoped. Loved the jazzy bit in the middle, and have to admit I had to join in with Mark's stomping
There were a few tears from me, I couldn't believe that after 17 years they were just right there within about 5 footsteps away from me! I know I went last year, but was right at the back, so last night, at points I just thought in shock, "that's Take That/Gary Barlow/Mark Owen" etc, I was just gobsmacked!
My legs are in agony tonight, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
